Flying Machine Draft Challenge – Best Tips for Getting 12 Wins
September 22, 2017
About Flying Machine
He is a medium investment (4 )which can fit in many deck archetypes.
He has slightly less HP and damage than a Musketeer, however he has slightly better speeds and he can fly.
Flying Machine is great for defending, counter pushes and supporting.
Think about him like a fragile Musketeer. He dies to Fireball.
Since Flying Machine has an attack range of 6, it can outrange lots of troops:
Flying Machine’s Counters
If you have the choice to pick out the Flying Machine, watch out these cards as they can easily counter him:
Although Bats die in 1 shot, they overwhelm
Minions need 2 shots from the FM to die.
Mega Minion takes down Flying Machine in just 2 swings and still has plenty of HP left.
In short, most air targeting troops can counter the Flying Machine on defense, except:
Princess is okay If you can afford the Tower damage.
Fire Spirits will almost kill the Flying Machine. Thus, make sure your Tower is not distracted by something else.
Ice Spirit work very well If the Tower takes some damage first.
Witch will lose without Tower support.
Flying Machine is good against:
Cannon/Tombstone – FM can help clear these quickly from the river as assistance to cards like Hog Riders
Helps defend flying troops from a distance like the MM and Minions on your side of the arena
Good against Lava Hound and Graveyard – Position far enough away from the tower so it won’t be Fireballed with the tower.
Graveyard spawns Skeletons twice as fast as the FM shoots, so skeletons will spawn, but the tower should help clear it
Flying Machine Synergies:
Fast win-conditions like Battle Ram, Hog Rider or Bandit work very well with the Flying Machine.
Flying Machine could be used to bait out Fireball for Three Musketeers.
Great against Air Decks. Undoubtedly
Glass Cannon like FM is always good for Beatdown decks.
Some others would work very well with him: Ice Spirit, Ice Golem, Knight, Mortar, X-Bow etc.
Should I pick the Flying Machine?
Flying Machine is not easy to use. It requires skills and practices. Also, it’s not hard to deal with the Flying Machine since it doesn’t have any special abilities.
Nonetheless, why not pick it 1-2 times to see how it works?
General Draft Tips:
Pick a Win Condition: This is very simply!
Picking a win condition is the most important thing when drafting, because it’s what allows you to take down your opponent’s towers.
Because Flying Machine will be around in every match, you’ll have to pick your win condition carefully. All tanks work great with the Flying Machine, so if you already have picked the Flying Machine, something like a Lava Hound would be much better than a Hog Rider.
The best win conditions in Draft Challenge:
These are the best win conditions in this challenge are Giant, Lava Hound and Golem if you have Flying Machine because they have great synergy together.
Pick card that counter the other: Another straight-forward tip!
For example, If you have the Minion Horde & Arrows Draft, go for Arrows.
Pay attention to what you are giving away: A bit more advanced tip!
Sometimes, the better choice is about making your opponent’s deck worse, not making your deck better.
For example, If you get the choice between Spear Goblins and Rage, go with Spear Goblins. Spear Goblins can’t make your deck better but Rage is definitely one of the worst cards in Draft Challenge.
Cards which are bad in the meta could be OP in the Draft Challenge:
For example, the Witch.
In the normal meta games, people can easily counter Witch with meta cards such as Bowler, Executioner, Knight, Lightning, Baby Dragon etc. However, in Draft Challenges, having those cards is not guaranteed.
Try to pick cards which require specific counters:
Here are some of those cards:
For example, Sparky!
If you have Sparky in your hand while the opponent doesn’t have any Zap effect or swarm card, he will find it extremely hard to deal with the Sparky. This is even worse If you have a good Sparky combo such as Giant Sparky.
Don’t forget spell!
Always pick one of these: Rocket, Lightning, Fireball and Poison.
In case you don’t have any win condition, or your win condition gets countered, you still have something to deal damage.
Last but not least, getting positive Elixir trade with spells is not hard!
Ensure your deck makes scene
First pick: Graveyard vs Mega Minion
Second pick: Baby Dragon vs Musketeer
Although Musketeer can solo kill Baby Dragon, pick Baby Dragon because it is a hard counter to your Graveyard. Also, If you are lucky, you can combo it with Tornado later on.
