In this page, I’m going to show you the best Clash Royale cards for competitive tournament play. The list shows you the current usage rates and win rates of each card in Grand Challenges.

Exploring The Best Clash Royale Cards With KairosTime

It’s been a couple of weeks since the recent balance changes and overall, I’m pretty happy with the shape of the meta. We’re starting to see different cards be used more and are even seeing less of other really popular cards.

For this Tier List, you’ll notice that I’m not going into detail as to why I moved each card. I wish I had time to type it all up (I really really do…), but I recently started Grad School and just don’t have the time to write everything up. So, if you care about the why behind the card moves, I cover each change in the accompanying video with this list!

Notes about the Win-Rates:

Mirror matchups will provide a 1 (win) and a 0 (loss) and as such, the win rates are averaged out to be closer to 50%. In addition, a “draw” will provide a 0.5 which does change things a bit.

As such, actual win rates (excluding Draws and Mirror Matchups) may be further away from 50%.

This means it is important to look at the win-rates as comparisons to each other, and use the use-rates to determine the validity of the win-rate.

Disclaimer

  • This Tier List is for Competitive Tournament play. So let’s put the Ladder and Classic Challenges aside since they’re different metas and function differently
  • Just because a card is in a high tier does not mean that it should be in all decks
  • Just because a card is in a low tier does not mean that it can’t be used in a competitive deck
  • A deck filled with High Tier cards may not be a great deck. Cards that compliment each other tend to help make the best decks, regardless of their tier
  • Cards are listed by rarity, not by superiority (Legendaries first, Commons last).
  • Cards in bold are cards that have been moved into a new Tier and their Old Tier is listed in parentheses
  • My opinion may be different than yours and that’s just fine. What’s important is that you share your opinion so the community can benefit from it

My Credentials

I’ve been playing Clash Royale since the Beta and have a PB of 5246 (Not relevant to Tournament Gameplay, but people will ask).

I’ve won 12 rounds of every special event CR has had and I can consistently win GC’s (My challenge record is 14 challenges in a row).

I made it past Phase 1, and made it 5 Rounds into Phase 2 of the CCGS.

    • He’s the lead for control decks a very popular part of the meta, he’s an incredibly reliable source of quick damage, and serves as a quick spontaneous mini tank for your troops which are hard to stop when you have no elixir or you just simply don’t react fast enough.

    I love PEKKA too but she is breaking all metas and the game.

  2. My opinions on the nerf/ buff list:
    Bats: I agree completely with this, however if you nerf their damage their interactions with skelys will change, in turn buffing the GY and any skely card (cuz they will have to hit the skelys twice to kill them)
    Ewiz: i dont want to see this guy nerfed but at this point its an inevitability, he just does way too much and fits multiple roles really well, that being said if there was a poll asking: Do you think the ewiz needs a nerf? I would say no (cuz he’s probably my fav card)
    MK: im on the fence about this one, i dont think his damage should be nerfed rather just his health (and maybe even hit speed?)
    PEKKA: I completely disagree with this one, nerfing the PEKKA will cause it suffer in terms of usage rate and win rate, I dont think anything should be done to the PEKKA yet.

    Cannon cart: the simple fact is that it costs 5 elixir and can’t hit air making the musket/ ewiz / executioner ALOT better options, I dont know how to balance it apart from making it a 4 elixir card and keeping it how it is.
    Bomber: probably my fav arena 1 card, i think a range and hit speed buff would be great
    Tesla: MAKE. IT. STUN. DONE.
    Sparky: #MAKESPARKYGREATAGAIN

    • Yo forgot the bowler who is a much more comparable card to cannon cart… he just outshines the cannon cart in every way possible.

    • One problem with the Tesla buff:
      Supercell has made it clear that legendaries should not offer a more powerful alternative, but rather a more advanced ability. For example, Electro Wizard has the ability to hit multiple targets at the same time and stun them. Other legendaries also have unique abilities, like the night witch spawning flying bats or the sparky recharging. Tesla is a common, and therefore should not have an advanced mechanic such as stunning units. If you want this to happen, then maybe Tesla should become a rare. Another reason I disagree with this buff is because it would push Sparky even farther away from the meta, and seeing as it is already orbiting millions of miles away, I don’t think this is the way to go in the attempt of making Sparky a more balanced card. What I would do to Tesla is make it able to attack 3 or 4 units at once, doing a fraction of the damage when attacking multiple units at the same time. This would make it more of a crowd control card.

      • i personally think tesla should have a chain attack to 4-5 units, but each time it bounces, it does 1/2 the damage compared to the previous unit hit each strike from the tesla

  5. Even tho i’m a sparky player, i don’t think ewiz needs a nerf, but rather maybe indirect nerfs
    Also pekka shouldn’t be nerfed yet
    MK needs just a small health reduction
    Idk about the bats, cuz nerfing them would indirectly buff every skelly card like someone said
    Ice golem, log. zap and bandit are fine

    Buff List: Ice Wiz, Bomb Tower, Bomber, Tesla, Prince, Sparky, Cannon Cart, Gskel

    • IWiz is completely balance lol, nerfing ewiz would make him stronger

      but yes, knight is a bit OP

        goblins, iwiz, knight (a bit OP) and miner are the most balanced cards this time

    • There are many cards that need a buff, and all of them can’t be in the spotlight at the same time. Regarding your nerf list, I could come up with at least half a dozen other cards that are very underused.

      I understand how you feel like Knight and Goblins are very strong cards, and I definitely agree on Knight, maybe a small health nerf would make it so that he’s not as good of a distraction card. Goblins are a tough one, because nerfing them would also nerf other cards like Goblin Barrel and Goblin Gang, maybe just a small damage nerf would keep bait ashore and make it so that Goblins don’t deal too much dps when ignored.

    • I just faced a guy with max bomber today
      His giant-bomber push destroy my Inferno tower in seconds without zap or lightning lmao
      If I had won this match, I would have sitting in 4k
      That’s why I hate bomber and I think bomber and giant need a serious nerf

  7. So I was battling on ladder and this guy had a level 13 bomber. I couldn’t address it because there was a split push going on in the other lane. Alone it reduced my full health level 10 princess tower to about 760 hp (full health is about 2700).

  8. I think the obvious one for Tesla is the .5 stun every shot. Of course this would keep canon in the shadows forever but it makes the most sense.

    • I’d love to see tesla be giving some love like that, and Sparky is already dead, so nerf it more isn’t a problem at all

      • Sparky, to be honest, isn’t really dead! Yes, it is very underused, but also very underrated! Keep in mind it’s a defensive card, just like Inferno Tower (have you ever seen that used on defense???). It can be buffed by making sure that it doesn’t get COMPLETELY reset by Ewiz! But, it is still very good if u use it properly!

      • Inferno Dragon is one of the strongest defensive cards in this meta. Electro Wizard is the only card that can keep it in check, and nerfing Electro Wizard would make ID take over the meta. I think a 0.5 stun for every attack is a good addition to the Tesla.

      • yes, ID is also one of the cheapest tank killers, i love it despite i don’t have it =((((
        the other cheap tank killer would be mini pekka, but he’s just not enough to kill a golem with any support behind
        so ID is the best cheap tank killer
        lol it’s too long

      • I think lightning should be given damage boost to kill inferno dragon so they can nerf e wiz. Tesla could be op if it had stun as well A’s it should current damage.

  9. Pekka can sorta counter Three musketeers, use a spell to kill two of them and then use pekka to kill musketeer and the tank for a counter push

    • What I like to do against P.E.K.K.A is use all of my Elixir in the single Musketeer lane, then put Goblins in front of my two musketeers to tank for the P.E.K.K.A, flip-flopping the outcome!

    • It can but mega Knight is a much more reliable counter since pekka can be distracted by goblins, ice spirit, knight while the musketeer kills pekka and then they just throw even more troops in front of their musketeer.

  11. alright, time to see an angry rg ebarbs fan and some happy sparky and inferno dragon fans! the sad thing is, sparky cant solo kill towers at tourney lvls anymore. the good thing is, 4 seconds feels like 3 seconds after seeing 5 second sparky charge ups

    -What could be effective in a mortar deck?
    -Should I try using princess in beatdown?
    -This is silly but should I try using NW on my mortar deck?

    • I don’t play mortar, but bowler is good with mortar and elixir pump can be used to add a bait element to the mortar if nessesary (just my suggestions, I am NOT a pro mortar player)

    • 1. there are lots of cards that synergies well with mortar, such as ice golem, knight, archers, even miner or minion horde.
      2. not really, use archers or mega minion instead(or minions)
      3. nope, NW is reserved for beatdown only. if you desperately need a tank killer, try inferno dragon or mini pekka.

    • I use princess mainly in control since I have level three and kills gob barrel and in mortar I’d use like ice golem to tank and maybe like hog so u aren’t too dependent on mortar

    • rocket, and cycle troops
      cycle troops are good against hog players, and can deal with bait decks
      rocket is good at taking out beatdown support troops, but only if you are good at using it

    Miner, Poison, Royal Ghost, The Log, Electro Wizard, Knight and Mega Knight are all in S tier

  18. I like this one, mainly because Prince isn’t in F tier anymore XD, but Pump and Skele Barrel should be in C

    • But pump is a must in heavy decks, especially 3M. It provides spell bait.

  20. Wait why is it V7-V6 instead of the other way around? That would imply that a value of say -.20 percent means that it raised -.2 percent from V6 to V7. Is this correct or is it a mistake?
