Best Tips for Tips for 2v2 Sudden Death Challenge

Since, this challenge is first of all in 2v2 mode, it is better to understand it before going to the Sudden Death aspect!

Sudden Death

Supercell did give a sneak peek about this new game mode, along with Ramp Up and Triple Elixir, in June.

In this mode, the first player (or team) to destroy a tower and get a Crown will win. This means the battle will always end 1-0 (unless you try to directly destroy the King Tower and succeed in doing so). Also, the duration of the battle will be maximum 3 minutes and no overtime (cause Sudden Death is only Overtime).

Due to all these aspects of this new mode, almost all types of decks won’t work.

Before playing a 2v2 match, you should change your mindset. Instead of thinking individually, you have to think as a team.

You should not focus only playing your deck, on the other hand, your thinking should be that you are also playing your team mate’s decks.

What I mean is, say, you are using Graveyard Freeze while your Team mate is using Miner Poison. Here, instead of only playing GY Freeze or Miner Poison combos, you should also play Miner GY or GY Poison.

Understanding your Teammate

In normal battles, it is said that you have to understand your opponents play style. But in 2v2, you should understand your Team mates play style.

Ask yourself questions like does he/she concentrate more on offense or more on defense, does he/she play in safe manner or high-risk high-reward manner and most importantly what will you do if you have his/her cards in hand in a particular situation.

Understanding your Teammate’s deck

Another important point in 2v2 is to understand your team-mates deck.

You have to understand what roles each of his/her card play, what is the main offensive combo, which cards synergize/work well with your deck and cards, which archetype it is, it is based for 1-o victory or a 3 Crown victory.

Deploying cards slowly

All of us have been in the situation where you and your team mate have used 2 similar cards to counter 1 card.

For e.g., using 2 Logs to counter a single Goblin Barrel or deploying to buildings to kill a giant.

To avoid this awkwardness, play slowly. Hover your card at the place where you want to deploy it so that your opponent knows what you are gonna play.

This can help you mainly in 2 ways:

  1. To avoid using 2 cards to counter 1 card
  2. Giving your partner a chance to deploy a card which synergizes well with your card.

Playing in good network

Yup, this is important. Many a times we lose battles due to bad network.

It’s OK for us because the loss only affects us. But in 2v2, if you don’t play, your team mate is also gonna lose because its impossible to make a stand against 2 players with twice the amount of cards than you.

You may end wasting your gems as well as your team mates.

Deck Building Tips for Sudden Death Challenge

Decks should deal high damage in short time!

Since the first to destroy a tower wins, the decks you build should be able to deal high amount of damage in a short period of time.

This makes slow decks like Golem Beatdown bad for this challenge. This is because they are based for 3 crown wins and their strength is when you are able to place down all troops behind Golem. For this you need a lot of elixir. And this challenge, you won’t be able to get enough time for gaining a elixir lead.

Now, you may think since slow decks doesn’t work, fast decks will be good. No, not all fast decks will be strong.

For e.g. Miner Poison takes lot of time to deal damage and take down a tower. So even though it is fast deck, it is slow in damage dealing.

Decks like Bridge Spam will be good as they are fast paced and quickly deal tons of damage.

Decks should be more Offensive than Defensive:

Since you need to destroy a tower, instead of protecting your tower, your deck should be aimed to destroy opponents tower.

So, what I mean is that you should have many ways to destroy opponents tower or have more win-conditions and win-condition support.

Cards which can punish the opponents hard

You should have cards which you can use to punish your opponents.

For e.g. if opponent plays a costly card on one lane, you should push hard on the other lane and not worry about elixir for defense.

Good cards here are Battle Ram, Bandit, Graveyard, Hog, Balloon.

Surprise Cards

Surprise cards are gonna be really strong in this challenge. This includes Freeze, Clone, Heal, Rage, Rocket, Mirror.

Use these cards when the opponent least expects, it will be punishing and you may quickly get a crown meaning a victory.

The time of deploying this card is very important as they are strongest when used for the first time. After that, they lose the element of surprise. So, before using them, make sure that you will be able to destroy the crown or deal lot of damage if it works.

Best Decks for 2v2 Sudden Death Challenge

NW Graveyard Freeze

Clash Royale Night WitchClash Royale GraveyardClash Royale FreezeClash Royale Zap
Clash Royale Ice SpiritClash Royale BatsClash Royale Ice GolemClash Royale Inferno Dragon

This is probably the most OP deck for this challenge. After creating this deck, I had a 5 win streak in 2v2 Sudden Death with my clan mates . (After that they started using my tactic against me and I couldn’t maintain the streak). With 3.0 elixir cost, you can play cycle very quickly. But the OP factor is actually the Freeze. It synergizes with Graveyard, Night Witch and Bats, as well as Inferno Dragon. Once this cards are locked on simply use Freeze to seal the win!

Vietnam’s Bridge Spam Deck

Clash Royale BanditClash Royale Night WitchClash Royale Inferno DragonClash Royale Battle Ram
Clash Royale ZapClash Royale PoisonClash Royale Ice SpiritClash Royale Ice Golem

This deck is strong because it is fast-paced and can also deal damage pretty quickly. Also, it is the Most Punishing deck making it OP.
Read more about this deck at here.

Graveyard Poison Cycle

Clash Royale Ice GolemClash Royale GraveyardClash Royale PoisonClash Royale The Log
Clash Royale Mega MinionClash Royale ArchersClash Royale GoblinClash Royale Tombstone

This is the fastest Graveyard deck at the moment. You can quickly cycle through the deck and use Graveyard back to back dealing damage easily.

Goblin Barrel Mirror Clone

Clash Royale Goblin BarrelClash Royale mirrorClash Royale Clone SpellClash Royale The Log
Clash Royale RocketClash Royale PrincessClash Royale KnightClash Royale Goblin Gang

If this deck catches your opponent off-guard its is GG. With Goblin Barrel, Mirror and Clone, you can have 12 Goblins on the map which will deal insane amount of damage. Princess and Goblin Gang help for baiting spells, knight and the log for coverage while Rocket (and mirrored rocket) to finish off. It is also one of the deck which can win 3-0 in Sudden Death.

That’s all folks! Hope you guys enjoyed reading the guide and get 9 wins in the challenge. Ask me about anything in the comments or on Discord.
