Aggressive Lumberjack Miner Chip Deck

Wassup guys! Sorefist2 here with my first ever deck guide! You may see me responding to comments on recently created decks, or other forms of comments, so you can trust me!

This converted Golem Barrel deck turned towards the side of chip damage, using Lumberjack, Miner, and the Goblin Barrel to inflict the chip.

Now, I know what you guys are thinking: “If this is a chip deck, then why are there multiple high-damaging troops in the deck? Why? Because I favor an aggressive play style, therefore, this is an “aggressive chip deck hence the title.” However, against meta decks, I’ve been getting back to back victories! So enjoy the guide!

Aggressive Lumberjack Miner Chip Deck

Cards Breakdown

Lumberjack: You don’t see this guy in the meta much at all. However, here, he shines in this deck and is one of the stars of the deck as well. He is super capable on offense and defense alike. He attacks so fast that he is a decent tank control method too!

Use him against Knights, Giants or any other tank in the meta!

When using him offensively, he works best with the Goblin Barrel, as his Rage will give the resulting Goblins more attack speed and damage.

He also works quite well with other cards in this deck too, like Dart Goblin or Miner, as he has decent health as well.

Goblin Barrel: The other staple of the deck.

For just 3 Elixir, you can do so much with it!

You can push offensively with it, use it on an annoying Siege building, or to destroy the defensive structure that keeps shutting down your pushes. Even without impact damage, it is still a force to be reckoned with, especially after the Zap nerf. It also synergies well with most of the other cards in this deck, like Lumberjack or the Miner.

I’m surprised it’s so underused, because a tournament level Zap will no longer kill tournament level Goblins now! I was expecting a spike in Barrel usage, but I was wrong. Maybe this deck will start the trend!

You can try substituting this for the Graveyard if you have it, but that makes the Lumberjack, one of the staples, much less useful, and it will make the deck more expensive as well. Also, I haven’t tested the sub yet.

Wizard: Your main form of swarm troop control. Use him against Minion Horde, Skeleton Army, and higher hit point troops like Mega Minion or Balloon combos.

He, like the Barrel, is very versatile on offense. He can be used with Lumberjack after defending to create a terrifying counterpush.

Sure, he costs 5 Elixir, but he’s worth it for that cost because he has one of the best damage-to-cost ratios in the game!

As for substitutes, you could try Ice Wizard if you have him, or if you prefer Executioner, you can use him too, but be careful, as these substitutes are untested!

Miner: This shovel-wielder is great at shutting down structures or Siege buildings as well, just like the Barrel. He also synergies well with the Barrel, as Miner+Goblin Barrel is such a classic push ever since his release! His ability to travel anywhere in the Arena makes him great for shutting down unreachable support troops that are chipping your counters, like Witches or Princesses. Like I said earlier, he has above average offensive capability as well. Use him with the Barrel, Zap, or Lumberjack, or if you’re feeling rascally, all of them! If you do not have the Miner, use the Knight instead. He deals similar damage and has similar health, so gameplay with him shouldn’t be too different, except he can only be placed in your territory.

Dart Goblin: I am only at 3400 trophies, so sadly I don’t have access to Dart Goblin (1 positive comment=1 prayer for me to get to Jungle). I use Spear Goblins instead. But whether you’re using Dart Goblin or the Spear Goblins, their general gameplay is the same. Their purpose: balanced damage that can melt your opponent’s cards, no matter what they may counter them with.

Dart Goblin is best used with Lumberjack, despite the fact that he will be out of range of his Rage Spell. He can also be used defensively to whittle down mini-tanks such as Valkyrie, but keep him away from Wizards! However, he is only 3 Elixir, so he is a cheap card that the opponent has to counter.

Even a simple Dart Goblin+Zap push deals over 400 damage to the tower (works with Spear Goblins too)! I consider him to be one of the best Rare cards in the game.

If you’re like me and don’t have DG, you can use Spear Goblins or the Goblin Gang. Both synergize very well with Lumberjack, so it doesn’t matter what you choose to use.

Skeleton Army: Your second, and last, method of tank and mini-tank control.

For 3 Elixir, they can take down a Giant if left ignored. They are also very good at dealing with Hogs or Battle Rams, as they surround a target very quickly, and therefore, can kill it quickly.

You can also use it with the Inferno Tower, the tank killer, to kill Elite Barbarians. They are, however, susceptible to many, if not all, spells, so have something at the ready if they die, like LJ or Inferno Tower.

Skeleton Army+Inferno Tower is very good at baiting Zap, especially with Elite Barbarians. Place Inferno Tower, then when he Zaps, use Skarmy. You can do this in reverse too. However, they lack offensive capability, so if you want to attack with them, don’t even think about it!

For substitutions, you can use Guards, which are Skeletons with shields, making them much less susceptible to spells, but less valuable against Elite Barbarians, or Goblin Gang, which do better against Ebarbs than Guards, and are much more useful for counter pushing.

Zap: The iconic, all-around, 2 Elixir spell that everyone loves, even after its nerf! Has great capabilities, both offensively and defensively.


Pair it with Lumberjack to create a cheap but lethal push, or pair it with the Miner or Dart Goblin to inflict massive chip damage!

You can also use it to reset IT and ID, or use it to eliminate swarm troops too.

Most of what Zap can do on offense can also be done on defense. For example, there is a Skarmy attacking your Lumberjack (he is attacking the Arena Tower), and you Zap it.

This can also be done defensively, but it will be different. For example, there is a Skarmy. You place Wizard, but your opponent places an Inferno Dragon. You Zap the Skarmy and ID, and Wizard kills ID. This is an example of how much value one Zap can provide.

As for subs, there are none, as Zap is a must-have, unless underleveled. (I apologize for those people who use Log). If it is underleveled, then use Fireball, Log or Electro Wizard. They provide some of the same capability as Zap.

Inferno Tower: Your tank destroyer. Kills just about any high hitpoint troop around.

Use it with Lumberjack to create your counter, then solidify a counterpush with DG or the Barrel. Provides a lot of value for just 5 Elixir.

Your opponent may Zap it, but you have a Skeleton Army! Even counters Inferno Dragon! So yeah, not much to say.

For substitutions, you can try Inferno Dragon, but I recommend you stick with the Tower version.

General Gameplay

Chip, chip, chip! This deck is all about chip damage! You want to use the Lumberjack, Barrel, Miner, and the Dart Goblin to get the chip. Wizard also helps, and you should include him in most, if not all, of your counterpushes. Lumberjack can be used to solidify counterpushes and really turn the tide. Miner+Goblin Barrel or Lumberjack+Dart Goblin are the two best pushes to use when the opponent places down an expensive tank, like Golem or Pekka. Just make sure you place your Inferno Tower down right after!

However, there are certain decks you need to watch out for, which are below!


Golem or Pekka:
As mentioned earlier, whenever they do this, use one of the above pushes, then kill the tank with the Inferno. Not much to say. However, they may continue to push and go for a three crown, so watch out for similar behavior, especially if your opponent uses a Pump!

Royal Giant Furnace/Furnace Control:
This is quite a challenge with this deck. Your best bet is to check the Furnace with the Miner. Keep the Fire Spirits away with Wizard, and counter push with Lumberjack.

Xbow Siege:
Fairly easy to deal with. Use Miner and Lumberjack to check the Xbow, then use Dart Goblin to counter push. Watch for anything he places to defend Xbow, so have Zap or Wizard at the ready!

Mortar Siege:
Very difficult and annoying to deal with, mainly due to Mortar’s dead zone. Your best bet is to use Inferno Tower on the Mortar, then counter push with the LumberBarrel push.

Another relatively easy deck type to counter, however, you need to know what to do if Skarmy or Inferno Tower are out of rotation. If they are out of rotation, use Lumberjack+Dart Goblin or Lumberjack+Wizard, then follow up with the Barrel. You can also try to outcycle your opponent, however, this deck is 3.6 Elixir, so it may not be possible.

Goison has become very popular after the Poison’s buff. I see them about 20% of the time. Instead of using swarm troops, use Inferno Tower on the Giant and the Flannel Man on the support unit, unless it’s a Prince, in which case, use Skarmy (Ignore the ClashOnGan reference). If he uses Poison on your Skarmy, wait until the Giant dies, then place Dart Goblin as far away from Prince as possible, while still letting him shoot. If Lumberjack is still alive when the push gets shut down, establish a counter push with the Dart Goblin or the Barrel.

Graveyard Poison:
This isn’t so bad once you’ve figured out your opponent’s cards and figured out how to deal with Poison. When dealing with the Graveyard itself, save your Lumberjack for the Graveyard. If they use a tank, such as Golem or LH prior to Graveyard, Miner+Goblin Barrel the opposite lane. This push will keep him on his toes for the whole match, possibly preventing a Graveyard on the Arena Tower! Make sure you defend the tank troop with IT and the Graveyard, if he plays it, with Lumberjack, since he survives a Poison.

Not very popular, but very annoying. He shuts down the pushes in this deck relatively easily. I recommend to use the Inferno Tower to take him out or bait a spell, and if a spell is used on the Inferno, use Lumberjack, Skarmy, or Dart Goblin. When using DG, place him as far as he can go, AWAY from the Bowler and the Arena Tower!

Zap Bait Decks:
This can sometimes become a relative challenge if you don’t have the right cards in rotation. For any Princesses, use the Miner, then Dart Goblin to counter push once she dies. If he Mirrors a Princess, use the Lumberjack on the other one, as it can create intense double lane pressure if Barrel is in rotation! This will force your opponent to choose one or the other, and whatever he chooses, push with the other troop! If there are lots of Minions being played, use the Wizard, followed by Miner and the Goblin Barrel. Use Zap only when you see something that can shut down a push!


Lumberjack+Goblin Barrel: The star push of this deck. Does so much damage if your opponent ignores it! Can be elevated with Zap.

Miner+Goblin Barrel: One of the most classic Miner pushes there is. Best used after the opponent places an expensive tank, like the Pekka or Golem. Like Lumberjack+Goblin Barrel, it can be used with Zap too.

Lumberjack+Dart Goblin: Great for counter pushing! Defend with one of the two cards first, then place the other down for a lethal push! However, DG will be out of range of the Rage that LJ drops.

Miner+Dart Goblin: If the opponent places a pesky Princess or X-Bow, use Miner, then place Dart Goblin behind him. It works with Spear Goblins too! You can elevate it with Zap or the Wizard as well.

Dart Goblin+Zap: A cheap but lethal push that inflicts over 500 damage to the Arena Tower if left unanswered!

Lumberjack+Zap: Another cheap push to use when a tank gets placed down. Can do lots of damage, even when countered! Useful for finishing off Towers for clutches as well!

Lumberjack+Wizard: Similar to Lumberjack+Dart Goblin, except you have splash defense supporting the Lumberjack, and the Wizard won’t be out of range of the Rage!

Miner+Dart Goblin+Wizard: Probably one of the best counter pushes EVER in this deck! Just like Miner+DG, except you have splash defense too!

Lumberjack+Goblin Barrel+Miner+Wizard+Zap: The SUPER ULTRA MEGA CHIP PUSH!!! You will most likely take a Tower with this, unless the opponent uses a powerful spell like Lightning on your troops.
