Hybrid Giant Deck for Frozen Peak

Hey guys, are you looking for a fresh deck that can help you get out of Frozen Peak with ease? Today, I am going to show you a Mortar Hybrid deck, which is one of the most versatile decks I have ever played. Don’t believe me? Here you go!

Hybrid Giant Deck

Mortar Hybrid Deck

Why this is called hybrid deck? Well, basically you can build lots of effective and strong pushes while using this deck. There isn’t any bad hands while using this deck for sure. You always can find a decent way to push. You can see more about them in this page!

General Gameplan

Giant +  Wizard is the main push of this deck. Mortar is usually used to protect them and take out opponent’s key defensive buildings, especially Inferno Tower and Bomb Tower. But, sometimes your opponents have perfect counters to your Giant push, then, it’s time to use the Mortar as the main damage dealer.

Also, personally, I have found pushing on the other lane with Mini P.E.K.K.A + Skeletons very effective in order to keep the pressure.

The Giant + Wizard Push

Giant Wizard is a great push but not good enough to deal with most counters, Valkyrie for example, most defenders will try to place the Valkyrie down in order to take out Wizard and support troops. Ideally, you will want to play ehtier Mini P.E.K.K.A (to deal with Valkyrie) or Mortar (to deal with defensive buildings and small troops). Mortar + Wizard combo is pretty impressive at dealing with Barbarians.

What If my opponent places Barbarians down?

Assuming you also play Mini P.E.K.K.A in the push.

Whether you have Skeletons soaking damage for your Wizard or not, react with Fireball. Next time, use Mortar instead of Mini P.E.K.K.A.

What If my opponent plays Minion Horde?

Have your Fireball ready the next time. If you don’t have enough Elixir, don’t use any more support beside the Wizard. Otherwise, hope your opponent plays them incorrectly and your Wizard can easily kill them.

How to deal with defensive Mini P.E.K.K.A, Prince or P.E.K.K.A?

Skeletons and Guards are your friends! Also, Mini P.E.K.K.A + Guards is another great combo.

My Wizard is usually stabbed by cheap troops

Play Skeletons or Guards behind your Wizard and he will be fine!

The Mortar Push

In general, while play this deck as a Mortar deck, you will want to place the Skeletons down in front of your Mortar immediately. Whatever your opponent plays will be absorbed for at least 1 second. This gives you a decent time to react properly. Sometimes, it’s recommended to play your Giant in front of the Mortar to soak damage. Use Mini P.E.K.K.A for Hog Rider, Minion Horde for Giant, Hog Rider, Royal Giant, etc.

My Mortar gets Fireballed

It should be an Elixir advantage If you haven’t put anything else down yet. Otherwise, there is nothing to do except playing your troops wisely.

My opponent always use Minion Horde/Barbarians

Use Guards/Skeletons + Wizard to counter.

How to deal with Hog Deck?

It’s better not to use your Mortar as the main damage dealer while dealing with Hog. Use your Mini P.E.K.K.A + Guards to deal with Hog, then, push with Giant.

General Tips for both Pushes

When to push, what kind of push to use,… Because this is an extremely versatile deck, it’s not hard at all to choose a great push to use. If your opponent plays defensive deck, use GiWi + Mortar. If your opponent use Giant, Golem, … drop your Mini P.E.K.K.A in the back to counter Wizard or whatever and play counter push right after that. P.E.K.K.A Double Prince Deck: Well, do your best!

This deck is such a Gem. The most beautiful part of this deck IMO is that it counters the current meta game pretty well.

Also There is another variant of this deck that works well. Replace Guards and Minion Horde with Inferno and Minions If you are finding it hard to deal with Royal Giant.

Okay guys, hopefully you have found this deck helpful. Don’t hesitate to commend If you have any suggestion!

Nice deck! Looks awesome! Could you do another deck for pushing to arena 6 or arena 6 though?

  • Ishmam

Well I guess the mortar IS a good card

    • CRwithzws

of course mortar is a good card. But It takes so much skills. I practiced a mortar decks for weeks before I mastered it.

      • Rusty

        Boy, you have a problem.

        • Guangyuan Chen

It’s true, after the nerf, if you can win with the mortar deck consistently, you’re very skilled

        • Terry Bert

You need skill to use mortar ._.

  • Terry Bert

Why is the mortar tagged 6 elixer, I am up to date 2700 throphies if they changed it jut tell me

    • John Cena

They didn’t I think it was just a mistake

    • Cheezy Pizza

This is what it was before the global release

    • Will Potter

      It’s updated now!

  • Siddmaster

    • Will Potter

  • SensAsiaNL

    what are the levels?

    • Siddmaster

Around tourney level, maybe a little lower or higher.

    • Will Potter

      What is your Arena man?

      • SensAsiaNL

I’m currently in arena 8 at 2886 tropheys, and if i would recreate this deck i should have lvl 9 commons, lvl 6 rares and lvl 3 epic. And OMW to lvl 7 with the rares

      • Brian

        im in arena 5

  • CRwithzws

The change I will make to this deck is change skeletons to zap, zap takes out any weak troops that can harm your wizard/mini pekka. Skeletons are currently useless because only 3 of them won’t do anything. Instead of zap I might going to try ice sprites but mine is only level 3. Guards are useless to me so I will change it to a cannon. You can actually do split pushes, giant wizard one line and then mortar cannon other line. Your enemy must spend some elixir to deal with the mortar cannon push for sure (fireball minion hordes or zap minions) and they also need elixirs to deal with your giant wizard push. If that player don’t carry both barbarians and minion horde It’s impossible for that player to counter your split push.

    • Will Potter

Thanks for the great share mate!

  • herro

what can you replace guards for? im currently in royal arena and have not unlocked them yet

    • Will Potter

Hmmm try to replace them with Goblins mate!

  • Jakerules68

This seems expensive to use with three 5 elixirs and then two 4 elixirs as cards to be used often. Would subsituting minions with minion horde be better?

    • Will Potter

Yea I think you can use Minions instead of Minion Horde mate!

  • -sirius-

    What is IMO?

    • John Cena

      In my opinion

    • Will Potter

      In my opinion.

Personally i feel that the giant should be replaced with the royal giant, the royal giant will be positioned near the river, thus you can place with wizard in your area ( the bottom half of the arena ). This way, your opponent cant place a valkyrie in between the royal giant and the wizard. Use ice wizard if possible.
I have used the royal giant and am currently at 3100+ trophies. Lava hound is widely used 3000-3150/ miner decks around 3300+. Thus I suggest replacing the mortar with the tesla ( good at taking out princesses as it is hidden ).

    • Will Potter

Yes, personally I have found that Royal Giant works well with this deck too! Thanks for the nice share Spencer!

  • Damien Kim

Hi, are level 1 Guards good enough to push to Arena 8?

    • Will Potter

It depends… But it’s better to wait until they get to at least level 2 😀
