Cosmincreato™ here with my first CRA article for you, the P.E.K.K.A Miner Deck which I’ve been really enjoying these last few weeks!
P.E.K.K.A. Miner Combo
Pros and Cons
Easy to use
Great defensive and offensive potential
Counters cards in the current Meta
Deck is heavy
Deck synergies are mediocre
P.E.K.K.A: Your main win condition is here.
The P.E.K.K.A became a very powerful card due to her ability to be used either as a tank or a defensive resource which can also start a counterpush.
You can have absolute control over the enemy pushes using her as a defensive troop. Your opponent may also struggle killing your P.E.K.K.A after you use her defensively.
Miner: A very good offensive troop in this Deck that can become devastating if he’s left alone to do his job while P.E.K.K.A is tanking.
You can Poison, Zap or even let the Executioner to make a clear way for the Miner. You can also send the Miner for some chip damage, killing Princesses or dealing some damage to Elixir Pumps or other buildings.
I personally think the Miner is a very powerful and versatile card.
Poison: I’d say it’s one of the best spells in the game right now due to its ability to kill some of the best cards in the game at the moment (e.g. Night Witch), swarm troops (which is the most of the Poison) and some chip damage to your opponent’s support troops.
The Poison is simply an amazing card.
Zap: Very fast deploy time, killing or dealing a lot of damage to swarm troops anywhere, reseting charge effects and Inferno Towers and Dragons.
All those things are super important, I don’t know if there is more to explain here.
Elixir Collector: Since this is a heavy control Deck this is extremely needed.
Best card to have in your starting hand for sure. You may not be able to start big pushes yet, but later in the game you will have the control over the whole match if your pumps are doing fine.
Mega Minion: When I just made the deck, I used to play with Minions instead of the Mega Minion but Splash Troops would have been pretty powerful against this deck, I also needed a Glass Cannon and the Mega Minion is my favorite one by far.
It helps the defense a lot by dealing insane damage for 3 Elixir AND by being an Air troop so it’s not killed THAT easily. It’s also the main Anti-Air troop in the Deck.
Executioner: The main support troop for your P.E.K.K.A that can also be a fairly good defensive troop against swarm troops and not only.
You can start pushes with the Executioner behind the Tower to make your opponent use his medium-cost/heavy spell on it, then it should be a lot easier for you to send the P.E.K.K.A.
The Executioner can also be placed on the bridge, with a Miner as a Mini-Tank on the Tower for some good damage.
Barbarians: And finally, the Barbarians can be used against almost any Ground troop and still do great against them.
For me,the Barbarians are one of the best defensive troops in the entire game with a lot of potential, from killing a lot of tanks shown below to a lot of support and glass Cannon troops.
Strategies and Tips
As you can see,this is a heavy Deck that is helped a lot by the Elixir Collector so there is no need to hurry up the push,let the enemy do the first move as Barbarians and Mega Minion are great cards to deal with Ground and Air units,with a lot of help from the Executioner.
Your pushes should be very stable due to the Elixir Pump, I personally hurry for a 3-crowns victory during the Double Elixir Time since my attacks can become extremely huge.
It should be really hard for the enemies to deal with the Barbarians (assisted or not by Mega Minion) , especially if they are using:
Bandit + Battle Ram Bridge Spam
, which are all popular choices.
In some cases you can shut down tanks with your P.E.K.K.A and start a counter-push if you have enough resources,just don’t let the enemy do a rush push on the other lane.
With the Executioner,Poison and Zap in your Deck, Zap-Bait decks players may have a tough match against you.
A very good starting hand would probably be one with Elixir Pump and defensive cards in it
Starting with the P.E.K.K.A:
Place your P.E.K.K.A in the back if he does the same with his tank to counter his push. If he plays a tank in the front you should do the same to counter it as fast as possible.
Starting with Barbarians:
Usually you play them to counter his tank, but if you have enough resources to counter your opponent’s push you can play 2 on a lane and 2 on the other for some chip damage, or at least you will make his push weaker by making him counter the 2 Barbarians.
Starting with Elixir Collector:
Play it as fast as possible, somewhere where troops can’t attack it IF you also have Barbarians or Mega Minion in your starting hand just in case if your opponent will try to rush you.
Starting with Miner:
You can do some fast chip damage on your opponent’s Tower, sending the Miner alone or with a Zap or Poison ready.That way you can also get cards you actually need more at the start of the game.
Starting with the worst starting hand (Executioner,Mega Minion,Zap and Poison):
Even if it’s really unlucky and hard to start with this hand,you should try to use the Executioner at the bridge since there is no way of countering it for less than 4 Elixir so it’s not gonna be a big loss.That way you will get one of the 4 cards that I talked about above and you can start doing what you need to do.
Be careful when starting a push with P.E.K.K.A in the back since the enemies can rush you, so be sure you already have an Elixir Pump on the map to regenerate your Elixir fast and deal with your opponent’s troops.
Hog Cycle: This should not give you a lot of trouble.Hog should definitely be killed easily by Barbarians,you’ve got even P.E.K.K.A to deall him with, zapping the Fire Spirits if played to kill Barbarians.
Golem NW: Let the P.E.K.K.A kill the Golem and the Golemites.While supports are targeting the P.E.K.K.A kill then with Barbarians or Mega Minion
Zap-Bait: This time try rushing destroying one Tower,with Executioner and Poison ready,can’t deal with the Deck without them.After that keep on defending, you will start knowing their next moves and know what to expect from them.Cycle for more Executioners since they’re very important in this matchup.
Royal Giant: Keep expecting to see a Royal Giant at the bridge,have P.E.K.K.A ready to drop at the bridge aswell to counter him then start trying to counterpush.Not a really hard matchup.
3 Musketeer Spam: Poison the 2 Musketeers, then use Executioner on them.Get rid of the third Musk with Mega Minion.Barbarians for Battle Ram.
Giant Beatdown: Apply the same as for Golem NW.Easier than Golem NW Matchup though.
Lavaloon: Even if it shouldn’t be that hard,I hate playing against Lavaloon,most of the time during the Double Elixir.You should use Mega Minion on Balloon,while It’s also targeted by Executioner (but he’s mainly attacking the Lava Hound).Just do everything to make the Balloon explode before dealing damage to the Tower and it should be great.Exec killing Lava Pups.
P.E.K.K.A + Miner + Executioner as support (The Main Powerful Push):
Miner + Poison (Fast Chip Damage)
Miner as Mini-Tank + Executioner or Barbarians
Either because you’re in a lower arena and you haven’t unlocked some cards yet or because your cards are underleveled, you can’t play all the cards in the Deck.
Well here are,probably the best card swaps in the Deck (Note that I haven’t tested all of them so I’m not totally sure if it will still work the same):
Miner: Goblin Barrel / Graveyard (Swaping the Miner would change the Strategy a lot though, so it is not recommended)
Executioner: Wizard / Witch
Mega Minion: Musketeer / Electro Wizard
Zap: The Log / Tornado
This is a pretty solid defensive Deck after all and I’d like to hear every opinion!
